employees and individual contracts...

Link here to business week online blog - "Knowledge workers - we're on our own"

"Increasingly, we'll be on our own. We'll buy our own laptops, our own insurance, and we'll cut individual deals with our employers--if we still have them--giving them a finely calibrated slice of our production."

This is really the thrust of "making talent dance" and employee empowerment in Funky Business.

This could be a challenge for internal communications as we see even more blurring between what's the internal and external audience - the porous membrane.

"Surround yourself with amazingly intelligent men and women"

internal communications podcast...

I know that it should probably sit on this site but I've posted about a new pod-learning file on the ilovepdg website.

This is mainly because I've already got the feedburner stats etc. set up and we've got regular subscribers over there.

In the podcast Dave and I discuss the recent client briefing "wot I wrote" about creating employee evangelists - re-inventing the grapevine.

Work / Life Balance - some real alternatives

I think we're finally getting somewhere - article from CNN Money: The new human-sized job

"A revolt of top talent is brewing across corporate America, say dozens of top executives, consultants and researchers, suggesting that it's time to reenergize the stale "work-life" debate -- by starting at the top."

All CEOs (in fact everyone in business) should read Maverick! - Ricardo Semler one of my favourite business books.

Leadership is about leading and until the guys and girls at the top finally realise that life is short and that the old saying - "no one on their deathbed says I wish I'd spent more time at the office" is really, really true.
